The Hockey Champ Donald Duck Animation Drawings Sequence of 10 (Walt Disney, 1939). Donald and the nephews (you know -- those interchangeable triplets Huey, Dewey, and Louie) hit this ice in this Jack King-directed short, released on 4/28/39. Here's a fantastic set of original 12 field 5-peghole animation drawings of "Unca" Donald as he skates off the left side of the paper. The first drawing, noted as number 48 in the lower right, shows Donald as he laughs at the boys' attempt to hit the puck, with his scarf flying up in his face; you can see this very quickly on YouTube at the 1:42 mark. The drawing is in graphite with nice green and red pencil highlights, with a figure size of 4.75". The next nine drawings are an unbroken sequence beginning with #62 and ending with #70; this sequence begins a second later, at 1:43, and ends within that second of action. These drawings are all in graphite with Donald's shadow below his feet in green pencil. Figure sizes are uniformly 4.5". Overall condition is Very Good, with minor handling wear.
