Description
The Hobbit Original Storyboard sheet Group of 5 (Rankin-Bass, 1977). From the famous 1977 animated adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, we offer in this lot a fantastic selection of five original storyboards created to plan various scenes of the film. The Hobbit was produced by Rankin-Bass and Studio Topcraft, a collaboration that also gave us Frosty's Winter Wonderland, The Return of the King, and The Last Unicorn, among others. Anime fans may recognize Topcraft as the studio that animated Hayao Miyazaki's Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. Each of these five 13.75" x 10" storyboard sheets shows 3.5" x 2.5" panels with wonderful graphite-rendered images featuring Bilbo, Gollum, and even the dwarves! Some of the sheets show paste-in text showing the lines of the scenes and brief descriptions of the shots, with one showing a paste-in panel with the text. Two sheets show humidity wrinkling, and the lot overall presents normal age-related toning and handling and edge wear from production. In Very Good condition.Auction Info
