Description

The Hobbit Original Storyboard Sheet Group of 2 (Rankin-Bass, 1977). Bilbo Baggins uses the One Ring to sneak behind the captors of Thorin and his dwarves in this spectacular pair of original storyboard sheets from the 1977 adaptation of The Hobbit. Produced by Rankin-Bass and animated by the now-defunct anime studio Topcraft, famous for producing Hayao Miyazaki's Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, this film was released on November 27, 1977, adapting the acclaimed novel by J.R.R. Tolkien. Attributed to the film's storyboard artist, Takashi Hisaoka, known for his work directing episodes for anime series like Mazinger Z, these two 13.75" x 10" storyboard sheets feature six 3.5" x 2.5" panels each, featuring the evocative art in ink and artist marker created to plan for the thrilling scene in the movie, numbered 9 and 10 in their respective top right corners. Underneath the panels, we can see paste-in text showing the lines by the characters and descriptions of the scene, as well as handwritten Japanese notes. Both sheets show normal age-related toning and overall mild handling and edge wear from production. In Very Good condition.
