The Great Mouse Detective Basil Model Drawing (Walt Disney, 1986). The Great Mouse Detective himself, Basil, is the feature of this 16 field 3-peghole model drawing from the award-winning 1986 Disney feature. The mouse is dressed in his finest mystery-solving gear and in a classic detective pose, eye pressed close to his handy magnifying glass as he searches for clues. This unnumbered drawing of Basil does not look to be in the final version of the film, though that makes this drawing even more special. Rendered in graphite, model drawings like this would have been used by artists to practice drawing a character consistently. This was especially important with Basil, the protagonist of the film. Basil measures approximately 7.25'' x 4.5''. There is light age-related toning in addition to minor edge and handling wear. There are two indents along the edges of the bottom border where the far pegholes were added and faint superficial wrinkles. Very Good condition overall.Auction Info
