Description
The Flintstones "The Prowler" Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble Layout Drawing Group of 2 Attributed to Ed Benedict (Hanna-Barbera, 1960). "The Prowler" was only the third Flintstones cartoon to be put into production, though it ended up being released fourteenth. In this cartoon, Fred and Barney make a bet after Betty decides to take up judo lessons. Unhappy with Wilma's desire to join in at the judo lessons, Fred bets that Betty will be too scared to fight if she's surprised by a prowler (who is just Fred in disguise). Unbeknownst to Fred and Barney, a real prowler has arrived in Bedrock! This episode was released on December 30, 1960. Here are two fantastic original layout drawings created for the episode, attributed to Ed Benedict, who did the layouts for the episode, along with Dick Bickenbach and Walt Clinton. One drawing depicts a masked Fred, seen at about the 13:39 mark of the episode, while the other depicts Barney sleeping soundly in bed, about the 13:45 mark. The drawings are created with graphite, with Barney's having some red and yellow pencil as well, on 12 field animation paper. They are numbered on their lower edges with Sc 97 and Sc 99. The pieces are in Very Good condition, with minor handling and edge wear from production use, including age-related toning.Auction Info
