Description

The Emperor's New Groove Kuzco Layout Drawing Group of 2 with Studio-Printed Storyboard Group of 3 (Walt Disney, 2000). "Oh, no!" The selfish emperor, Kuzco, is seen in absolute denial in this lot that features two expressive animation drawings of the protagonist of The Emperor's New Groove, refusing to accept the fact that he saved Pacha. Known by many for its zany humor and heart-warming storyline, The Emperor's New Groove had a rocky production, starting under the title Kingdom of the Sun. Significantly different to the final movie, Kingdom of the Sun would have had a similar plot to The Prince and the Pauper. The complicated transition from Kingdom of the Sun to The Emperor's New Groove was recorded in Trudie Styler's documentary The Sweatbox. This group of two layout drawings was used to plan the charming scene at the 43:11 mark of the film, as Pacha tries to make Kuzco realize there might be some good in him after all. Both drawings are created with color pencils on 16-field animation onion-skin paper, featuring Kuzco as he turns his head, identified near the bottom right corner with the production number 1331, labeled "Seq. 11.6/Sc. 110.6", and dated 11/17/99. The lot also presents three studio-printed storyboards for the scene, pasted on 16-field onion-skin animation sheets. The five animation sheets show torn edges, significant crumpling on the top edges, and reinforced pegholes. One of the storuboard sheets show a light green stain on the left, away from the art. Overall, the lot shows considerable handling and edge wear from production. In Good condition.
