The Country Cousin Abner and Monty Animation/Model Drawing (Walt Disney, 1936). City living proves rather overwhelming to country mouse Abner when he visits his cousin, the city mouse Monty. In this scene from the Dave Hand and Wilfred Jackson co-directed Silly Symphonies short, the mice have ruined a banquet and landed right in the middle of what appears to be mustard; which can be seen around the 7:14 minute mark. This highly detailed artwork is in graphite with red and green pencil highlights, and the overall image measures about 8.5" x 5" on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper. The number 25 is written in the lower right corner, along with some artist notes, and is stamped to the left of the image "MODEL DRAWING Return To Dot Powers." Ms. Powers was supervisor of the Ink and Paint Department, at this time and she selected this drawing as representative of these characters in the scene as correct for use as a model. There is some edge wear along the lower right corner and left edge with minor handling; otherwise in Very Good Condition.
