DescriptionThe Big Wash Goofy Animation/Color Model Drawing (Walt Disney, 1948). "I'm gonna warsh Do-lorious! She's a-gonna look ga-lorious!" Goofy sure has his work cut out for him in this hilarious circus-themed short. He plays a circus attendant in charge of Dolores the elephant...who is very reluctant to take her bath! This "pleasantly plump" pachyderm is surprisingly agile for one so bulky - and also suffers from hay fever! This madcap film was released on February 6, 1948, with long-time Disney director Clyde Geronimi at the helm. This very large drawing (beautifully rendered in graphite and colored pencil) was taken from a scene near the end of the film, in which Goofy has resorted to chaining his elephant charge in shackles, for the duration of her bath. He lowers himself down her side, window washer-style, on suspended scaffolding. Goofy happens to peer over and see "Dolorious" as she is moments away from yet another epic sneeze - and trips and falls all over himself in his mad rush to stifle it! This drawing was taken directly from cleaned up animation; each "color field" within the image is color-coded with a different shade of pencil. The result is a gorgeous (and hilarious) color model drawing, which would have been used by the Ink & Paint Department. Very large image area takes up the majority of the frame. Drawing is on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper. There is some toning throughout the paper, as well as some creasing due to handling. In Good condition.
