The Banana Splits Adventure Hour Original Presentation Illustration (Hanna-Barbera, 1968). Sid and Marty Krofft were asked by Hanna-Barbera to design some costumes for a new show idea about a rock band with comic animal members. The result was Fleegle (Beagle), Bingo (gorilla), Drooper (Lion), and Snorky (an Elephant). The show premiered on September 7, 1968 and was directed by a young Richard Donner (later of Superman fame) The series was an instant hit with the kids. This is the original presentation artwork for the original series, marked Hanna-Barbera Presentations 1968. This is rare H-B Studio presentation artwork used to sell the show to the network and sponsors, and used for publicity and merchandising. Colored marker on an impressive 15" x 12" board with an acetate overlay; characters are 5" to 7" tall. This is one of the only pieces of original artwork from this historic and fondly remembered show we have seen. Fine Condition.
