Description

The Autograph Hound Trio of Original Donald Duck Production Drawings (Walt Disney, 1939). This delightful trio of production drawings comes from the grand finale of The Autograph Hound (1939), a star-studded Donald Duck short directed by Jack King. After a chaotic adventure sneaking into a Hollywood studio, Donald successfully collects autographs from icons like Greta Garbo, Mickey Rooney, Sonja Henie, The Ritz Brothers, and Shirley Temple. However, in a surprising twist, Donald himself becomes the celebrity when Shirley Temple recognizes him and excitedly asks for his autograph. The stunned security guard, who had been chasing Donald the entire short, is left speechless, exclaiming, "Donald Duck? Did you say, 'Donald Duck?'" As word spreads, a crowd of famous Hollywood actors rushes in, leaving Donald buried in a massive pile of autograph books. These three original production drawings- one of Donald and one depicting Donald within the towering stack of books and the other featuring the autograph books themselves-are beautifully rendered in graphite and color pencil on 12-field, 5-peghole animation paper and numbered D-27, D-17, and D-1. In vintage Good condition, these wonderful pieces show some production-related edge wear and age toning, making them a fantastic find for Disney art collectors.
