Description"The Art of Robert McKimson" Children's Book Character Concept Drawings (Warner Brothers, 1928). Robert McKimson is considered one of the great animators and directors of the Merrie Melodies and Looney Tunes series of Warner Brothers cartoons. Of all the animation directors, he had the longest tenure at the studio, starting in 1931 until 1969. He directed 175 cartoons and created such characters as The Tasmanian Devil, Foghorn Leghorn, Speedy Gonzales, and Sylvester Junior. This lot is the some of the earliest known artwork to ever surface by Robert McKimson (1910 - 1977). It's a series of four original pen and ink drawings for a children's book titled Mouse Tails that he, his brother Tom and mother Mildred envisioned publishing. The lot includes drawings of a 14" x 9 Cat and Magic Sword, 8" x 11" Crooked Old Man, 6" x 9" Old Man Turtle, and 8.5" x 11" Brown Bear. These four signed Robert McKimson originals come from his estate and each has a letter attesting to that. Minor handling and edge wear. Overall condition is Good. From the Robert McKimson Archives.
