    Description

The Art of Retta Scott "Coconut Island" Watercolor Painting Original Art (c. 1950s-60s). After leaving Walt Disney Studios, Retta Scott (1916 - 1990) married Submarine Commander Ben Worcester. She became a military wife and lived in many places. When stationed in Hawaii, she began doing watercolors of the scenes from Hawaii and sold her paintings in galleries on the island. This is one of the largest watercolors we have come across from the hand of Retta Scott. It is in a mat of 30" x 23" with a mat opening of 21.5" x 14". She has titled this one on the back of the mat in her hand, "Coconut Island - Retta S. Worcester." Coconut Island is a 28-acre island in Kane-Ohe Bay off the coast of Oahu. She has also signed the front of the watercolor painting Retta S. Worcester in the bottom right corner. This was a serious painting of hers. Mat has some staining and handling, actual watercolor condition is Very Good.
