    Description

The Art of Lee Blair - Watercolor Painting Original Art (c. 1930s-40s). Mary Richardson married Lee Blair (1911 - 1993) in 1934. At the time of their marriage, Lee Blair was a key developer of a regionalist California style of representational watercolors, defined by a large format of free broad brush strokes and rich colors. In 1935, at the age of 23, Lee became the President of the California Watercolor Society. He organized numerous traveling exhibits of the society member's artworks. From the Mary Blair Family Trust comes this rare original Lee Blair watercolor painting on light art paper measuring 21" x 17". It is hand-signed in the bottom right corner as L. Blair; exact year is unknown. A stunning painting! Minor handling and edge wear. Good condition. From the Mary Blair Family Trust Archives.
