    Description

"The Art of Art Babbitt" Drawing and Painting Group of 2 (Art Babbitt Estate, 1930's). Art Babbitt moved from Iowa to New York and found work at Paul Terry's Terrytoons Studio. It is said that upon seeing the Skeleton Dance cartoon, he and friend Bill Tytla left New York to get jobs at Disney Studios. Not much is known about the two items in this this lot other than that they hung in Art Babbitt's studio and family members believe they are by him. The first piece is a stunning figure drawing in blue and brown pastel on brown paper with images ranging in size from 7" to 12". It's in a frame of 20" x 19". The second is an unsigned painting of a man in a turban with his hands on a cane in a frame of 19" x 24". Both pieces show handling and wear. Condition is Good. Frames are sold as-is. From the Art Babbit Archives.
