    Description

Tennis Racquet Goofy Animation Drawing Sequence Group of 3 (Walt Disney, 1949). Goofy returns a down the line shot in this exceptional sequence of three original 12 field 3-peghole animation drawings. Tennis Racquet was one of those very funny sports-themed cartoons that feature Goofy in every role, and here, he's playing himself as an audience of Goofys watch from the stands! Jack Kinney directed this laugh-riot, which was released to theaters on 8/26/49. It had been Kinney's first Goofy short in four years; he would go on to helm the remaining Goofy sports cartoons in the series, which ended in 1953. These are terrific images of The Goof stretching to meet the ball, with a different funny extended pose in each drawing. The art is in graphite with red and green penciling on each; they are numbered in the lower right as 21 (Goofy's figure size from foot to nose is 6"); #23 (figure size 4"); and #33 (figure size 6.25"). For Disney Animation fans who are also tennis enthusiasts, this sequence is made to order! In Fine condition with very minor handling.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
