Description

Superman (aka The Mad Scientist) Exceptional Animation Drawing (Fleischer Studios, 1941). Superman battles the Mad Scientist's destructive ray that just tried to topple the Daily Planet building, in this exciting full-figure animation drawing. The Fleischer Studios hit their creative peak with the Superman series, of which this cartoon was the first, released to theaters on 9/26/1941. This was not only the first cartoon to star the Man of Steel, but also the beginning of the end for Max and Dave Fleischer's cash-strapped animation studio; the Superman and Popeye cartoon series would continue after Paramount took over and renamed it Famous Studios. Superman's heroic pose is drawn in red pencil on 11" x 8.5" 3-peghole animation paper with an approximate overall image size of 5.5" x 5.75"; find it in the short at about the 8:04 timestamp. Any original production art from the Fleischer/Famous Studios Superman cartoons, especially anything including a full-figure image of this "strange visitor from another planet" are always in high demand; this great drawing is guaranteed to generate plenty of excitement among serious collectors! The condition is Very Good with minor handling and edge wear, plus mild age-related paper toning.
