Steamboat Willie Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing with Walt Disney Signature (Walt Disney, 1928). This is a true museum piece. It's an original Ub Iwerks animation drawing of Mickey Mouse, in his premiere theatrical appearance as Steamboat Willie. The short was directed by Walt Disney himself and it was the first Disney cartoon to feature "synchronized sound". This film is listed as #13 in Jerry Beck's book 50 Greatest Cartoons, and was also selected for preservation by the US National Film Registry in 1998. In this scene at around 6:31 mark, Mickey is playing cow's teeth like a xylophone to the tune of "Turkey in the Straw". It's a wonderful smiling image of Mickey measuring approximately 5" x 4" rendered in graphite on 12 field 2-peghole paper. Framed along with the drawing is a signature attributed to Walt Disney on a very rare personal stationary. Please note that the signature is not verified due to its "rushed" appearance and is sold as-is, but we believe the signature to be authentic as it came from a longtime studio employee/animator. Also in the frame is a black and white 8" x 10" photo portrait of Walt, and a printed image of the scene in which the drawing appeared. The back of the frame has been signed by Disney Legend Inductees Wayne Allwine (1947 - 2009) and Russi Taylor, the married couple who provided the voices of Mickey and Minnie Mouse through much of the '80s and '90s. The entire collection is presented in a common frame under glass that measures 15.5" x 32.5". The artwork shows minor handling and condition is Fine. Frame is sold as-is.
