DescriptionSteamboat Willie Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1928).
Historic Ub Iwerks original 12 field 2-peghole animation drawing of Mickey Mouse, in his very first role as Steamboat Willie. Ub Iwerks was considered by many to be Walt Disney's oldest friend, and spent most of his career with Disney. He was responsible for the distinctive style of the earliest Disney animated cartoons, and was also responsible for designing Mickey Mouse. This is a historic piece of artwork from the first widely released Mickey Mouse short. It premiered at the Colony Theater in New York on 11/18/28. The short was directed by Ub Iwerks and Walt Disney. This great drawing is from the scene of Mickey Mouse playing the teeth of a large cow at about the 6:30 mark. The number 398 is written in the bottom corner. The back of the paper has a blue stamp marked 148. Great facial expression on this 5" image. This truly is a piece of "It All Started with a Mouse" history. The artwork is in a frame of 23.25" x 17" under Plexiglas with a mat opening of 12.5" x 10". Frame sold as-is. Included in the frame mat is a screen grab copy of the scene. Mild age-related toning, normal handling and edge wear. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a Mickey Mouse drawing from his first film! Condition is Fine.
