Steamboat Willie Animation Production Drawing by Ub Iwerks (Walt Disney, 1928). Walt Disney's original superstar, Mickey Mouse, appears in this RARE drawing by Ub Iwerks (1901 - 1971) from his first cartoon short, Steamboat Willie. Iwerks was a commercial artist in Kansas City in 1919 when he met Walt Disney who was in the same profession. When Disney decided to form an animation company, Ub Iwerks was the first employee he had due to his skill at fast drawing as well as being a personal friend. He served as the principle animator for the first Mickey Mouse cartoons and Silly Symphony shorts. Rendered in graphite on 12 field 2-peghole animation paper and noted in the bottom left as "Iwerks, Steamboat Willie". You can see this image around the 6:38 time mark. Very RARE early Mickey Mouse production art. Edge wear with age-related toning. Overall condition is Very Good.
