Description

Springtime for Thomas Jerry and Effects Animation Drawing Pair (MGM, 1946). "Mwah~" Cherie blows Jerry a kiss sending him sky-high with infatuation in this utterly charmed pair of animation and effects drawings from the Tom and Jerry MGM short Springtime for Thomas. The debut short for both Tom and Jerry's paramours, Toodles Galore and Cherie respectively, premiered on March 30, 1946 under the direction of the duo's creators Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera revolving primarily around Tom and Butch vying for Toodles' affection thanks to some mischief on Jerry's end. From the closing scenes where Cherie finally appears, Jerry can be spotted being bolstered by love beginning near the 7:05 timestamp until his heart is so full it pops leaving the lovestruck mouse to softly float down into Cherie's lap. Rendered in graphite and colored pencil, Jerry's drawing numbered 37 has an image area of about 2.75" x 3.25" while the effects drawing numbered 39B has a slightly larger image area of 5.75" x 4.5" with both 12 field sheets bearing studio stamps along the peghole edge reading Prod 137 Sc 67 with some animator's notes also present. With typical handling and edge wear including faint age-related toning, small areas of smudging, and minor edge creases/tears, overall this impassioned pair is in Very Good condition.
