Description

SpongeBob SquarePants Patrick Illustration Signed by Stephen Hillenburg (Nickelodeon, c. 2000's). Featured in this lot is an incredibly rare drawing of the adorable Patrick Star by the hand of his creator, the famed animator, director, and marine science educator Stephen Hillenburg (1961 - 2018). Hillenburg came up with the idea that would eventually develop into the SpongeBob SquarePants show that we know during his time working at the Orange County Marine Institute in Dana Point, California. The art-inclined Hillenburg was tasked with creating a comic about the animal life of the tidal pools. He came up with a comic called The Intertidal Zone, which included a prototype of the SpongeBob we know nowadays. Hillenburg will later pursue a degree in experimental animation at the California Institute of the Arts, a path that will eventually take him to Nickelodeon and the creation of perhaps one of the most iconic Nicktoons, SpongeBob SquarePants. This fantastic drawing of the lovable dork Patrick Star was created in marker on a white board measuring 8.5" x 11.5", with the smiling character measuring an amazing figure size of 4.25" x 5.5"., displaying Hillenburg's signature beneath Patrick. Signed drawings by Stephen Hillenburg are extremely rare! If your favorite Nickelodeon show was SpongeBob SquarePants, this is a lot you definitely don't want to miss. The condition is Very Good to Fine with minor handling wear.
