Spike and Mike Festival of Animation Poster Art by Kendal Cronkhite with MatchPrint Proof (1995). Kendal Cronkhite began her film career as assistant art director for Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas. Working with Disney and DreamWorks, she has been involved in the production of such notable animated films as James and the Giant Peach, Antz, and Madagascar. Here's an impressive piece of artwork she created as a poster design for Spike and Mike's Festival of Animation. It's a wild mixed-media design, with an hand-painted animation-style overlay on a mix of hand-drawn elements and collage on illustration board measuring 17.25" x 23.25". Handling wear along the outer borders; otherwise Fine condition. A rare original 27.5" x 39" MatchPrint pre-press proof of the final, untrimmed poster is included; it has a proof sticker attached to the backside. A MatchPrint proof is a very attractive laminated piece on photo-print paper, sturdier and more attractive that the final printed version, with vivid colors. The proof is also in Fine condition. From the Spike and Mike Festival of Animation Archives.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
