Spider-Man Animation Drawings Group of 12 (Grantray-Lawrence/Marvel, 1967). "Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a Spider can!" This is the theme song from Spider-Man's very first animated TV series. Writing was based on the comic book stories of Stan Lee, who was a story consultant for the series. This is a rare sequence of twelve 12 field animation drawings. These are all from Season 1, which mistakenly had the Spider logo on Spider-Man's chest with six legs instead of eight legs; this was corrected in Season Two. Art is in graphite with blue pencil highlights, with nice image sizes of 5" to 7". Each one is hand-signed by this show's producer, Ray Patterson (1911 - 2001). Mr. Patterson was one of the founders of Grantray-Lawrence in 1954. Any and all artwork from this limited-animation series is considered to be extremely rare! Minor handling and edge wear. Very Good condition. From the Ray Patterson Archives.Auction Info

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.View More Testimonials
