Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs "The Silly Song" Snow White Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1937). "Ho-hum, the tune is dumb, the words don't mean a thing. Isn't this a silly song for anyone to sing?" The dwarfs serenade Snow White as they dance and sing the night away in this stunning 16 field 5-peghole animation drawing from "The Silly Song"! This large full figure graphite with color pencil drawing appears at roughly 54:30 as she dances in the cottage and is a key drawing, as noted by the circled 45 in the lower right. Snow's animation was primarily done by Grim Natwick and Hamilton Luske with help from Marc Davis, Les Novros, and Jack Campbell. Marge Champion served as the reference model for the character and her experience in dance surely helped in preparation for this scene. This drawing shows how hard the team worked in their early time at Disney to make Snow White as lifelike as possible - she looks like she's ready to dance right off the page! To make things even better, the drawing is believed to be initialed by Disney Legend Marc Davis (1913 - 2000), who had only started working as an assistant animator on the project in 1935 and was uncredited on the film. Snow measures an impressive 5.5'' x 7.25'' with a wide smile and the drawing includes a studio production stamp in the lower left marking it for Sequence 8A and Scene 26. 435 is stamped on the back.
