    Description

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Snow White Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1937). At the time it was first introduced, the depiction of a gentle young maiden so in-tune with nature that she could commune with the forest creatures was a novel idea to show on-screen. This is an iconic image from Disney's first foray into feature-length film, with the princess Snow White holding out her finger for a bluebird to take a perch. The drawing can be seen at the end of the "Whistle While You Work" sequence, as the princess and her woodland friends work to clean the Dwarfs' cottage. She carries a broomstick and has just finished sweeping the front step of the doorway. Animation legend, Grim Natwick left his mark on many of the great Hollywood Studios - and was largely responsible for the groundbreaking development of Snow White's lifelike design and graceful movement. One of the few able to rise to Disney's exacting standards, he gave the notoriously hard-to-please producer exactly what he asked for in the realistic depiction of Disney's inaugural princess - and helped to create an international heroine in the process. Marge Champion provided the animators with a live-action dance reference. Large, clear image of Snow White measures 8" tall. She is rendered in graphite and colored pencil on 12 field, 5-peghole animation paper. The paper has been stamped "Prod. 2001, Seq. 30, Scene 18" at the lower left. Minor handling; image unaffected. In Fine condition.
