Description

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Grumpy Layout Drawing by Bill Tytla Group of 4 (Walt Disney, 1937). "Hah, women!" Disgruntled by Snow White's request to clean up before supper, Grumpy walks out of the cottage, as seen in this collection of four layout drawings crafted masterfully by Bill Tytla (1904 - 1968), one of the most renowned animators in Disney history. Rendered in graphite with colored pencil, these layout drawings were done to plan for the scene at the 42:28 mark of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and feature three images planning for Grumpy's trajectory from exiting through the door until he sits on the barrel, and a detailed layout drawing of the outside area of the dwarfs' cottage. These incredible drawings are a spectacular demonstration of Bill Tytla's great skills, not only in planning for the spatial positioning of the dwarf but also in his body language that communicates without dialogue exactly how he feels about washing before supper. Images like these, displaying Tytla's great eye for motion and gesture, show us why Tytla was one of the first animators assigned to work on the iconic Disney animated film! The layout drawings are created in colored pencil on 12-field 5-peghole animation sheets, showing normal age-related toning. In Very Good condition with minor handling and edge wear from production.
