DescriptionSnow White and the Seven Dwarfs Grumpy Animation Drawings Sequence of 5 (Walt Disney, 1937).
Of all the dwarfs in this historic animated feature, we find Grumpy to be the most fascinating and complex. We never know the reason for his cultivated grumpiness, just that he maintains it as much as possible, only breaking into a smile when he feels no one is looking (like after Snow White plants a gentle kiss on his bald head). Here is the Grumpy we love, with a scowl on his face, and also breaking into a rare smile while on the floor, carpenter's pencil in hand. This very rare sequence of original 12 field 5-peghole animation drawings is from the deleted "Building a Bed" scene, with art in graphite over red pencil and added blue pencil motion lines. The drawings are numbered 221, 224, 248, 261, and 275; image sizes range from 4" x 3.25" to 5.5" x 3.5". All have added notes lightly added around the images. Overall condition is Very Good, with light paper toning and minor handling wear.
