    Description

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Grumpy Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1937). "Bunch of old nanny goats!" Grumpy mocks his fellow dwarfs for their newfound bathing practices in this original production drawing. Grumpy demonstrates the biggest change of heart and goes through the most growth over the course of the film, much more so than the other dwarfs, who all love Snow White unconditionally from the get-go. Initially a woman-hater, Snow White eventually wins him over with her kindness. The moment when Grumpy breaks down in tears at Snow White's funeral was considered a watershed moment for character development in animated film; prior to this scene, few had realized the power of the art form to convey such pathos. Rendered in graphite and red pencil on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper, he measures approximately 5" x 3". The paper has been stamped "Prod. 2001, Seq. 6A, Scene 13" at the lower left and numbered 92 on the bottom right. Minor handling (image unaffected). Condition is Fine.
