Description

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Evil Queen Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1937). "Magic Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?" The Evil Queen, featured in all her wicked majesty, delivers her emblematic line in this incredible original animation drawing from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the iconic first Disney feature-length animated film. This iconic Disney Villain was designed by Albert Hurter and Joe Grant with her original form's animation supervised by Art Babbitt. Her famous dialogue can be heard uttered quite early in the film near the 2:55 timestamp, during the unforgettable scene that sets the stage for her ominous plans to come. This enormous and elegant depiction of the Evil Queen shows the film's untransformed antagonist adeptly rendered in graphite and red pencil to a staggering three-quarters figure measuring 6" x 11" nicely centered on the 16-field five-peghole animation sheet. The peghole edge bears an official studio stamp noting the frame as belonging to Prod. 2001 Seq. 1 Scene 8 with the frame number of 1000 in the opposite lower corner accompanied by the initials B.J. possibly for animator and Imagineer Bill Justice who joined the Studio as an in-betweener late in Snow White's production. The upper right corner on the reverse side of the drawing bears a rare studio stamp reading 50 similar to those seen on animation drawings from early Disney theatrical shorts. With typical handling and edge wear including faint age-related toning, some peghole reinforcement, and small areas of surface wear near the corners, overall this grandiose testament to villainy is in Very Good condition.
