DescriptionSnow White and the Seven Dwarfs Doc Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1937).
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs premiered at the historic Carthay Circle Theatre in Los Angeles on 12/21/37, with a nationwide release on 2/4/38. In 1989, the United States Library of Congress deemed the film "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" and selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry. The American Film Institute ranked it among the 100 greatest American films, and also named the film as the greatest American animated film of all time in 2008. From Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs we have a fantastic production drawing of Doc. Doc is the leader of the seven dwarfs despite not being present in the original 1935 story outline. Later, his role in the film and his relationship with Grumpy was established: Walt Disney commented that Doc's flustered personality should be such that he never knew quite where he is without one of his fellow dwarfs reminding him. Disney personally suggested the sequence in which Grumpy feeds him the phrase "mad as hornets" when Doc is lost for words, causing Doc to blurt out Grumpy's words without thinking. The drawing was rendered in graphite with colored pencil on12 field animation paper. The drawing also contains the animators timing sheet notes on the right side of the piece. The drawing is in a 20" x 19" frame with a mat opening of 10.75" x 8". The frame has a plaque that reads, "Doc Original Production Drawing Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs 1937." Frame sold as-is. Artwork is in Very Good condition.
