Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Consumer Products Illustrations Group of 7 (Walt Disney/Kay Kamen, 1937). This lot pays homage to Disney Legend Inductee, Mr. Kay Kamen (1892 - 1949). It is said that he invented the whole licensing industry. After a phone call to Walt Disney in 1932, he traveled to Los Angeles two days by train to meet both Walt and Roy Disney. He became the company's sole licensee representative, making millions of dollars for the company in its early days promoting Mickey Mouse. This is a rare set of seven original designs of Snow White, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Doc, Sleepy, and Bashful. These are head shots, beautifully rendered in ink on Bristol board measuring 4" x 6", with onionskin paper overlays that have been hand-colored with color pencils, as a color guide for printers. These were done for a series of Snow White scarfs. They are all hand-dated 7 /21/38. All have a very cool Mickey Mouse cover label that reads "Walt Disney Enterprises Kay Kamen Sole Representative 729 7th Ave New York," on an orange label. Minor handling wear. Overall condition is Good.
