DescriptionSnow White and the Seven Dwarfs Bashful Animation Drawings Sequence of 4 (Walt Disney, 1937).
Before Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the Disney studio had been primarily involved in the production of animated short subjects in the Mickey Mouse and Silly Symphony series. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was to be the first full-length cel animated feature in motion picture history, and as such Walt Disney had to fight to get the film produced. Both his brother and business partner Roy Disney and his wife Lillian attempted to talk him out of it, and the Hollywood movie industry referred to the film derisively as "Disney's Folly" while it was in production. Consequently, in 1989, the Library of Congress deemed Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" and selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry. In this lot we have four fantastic vintage animation drawings of Bashful asking Snow White to dance. You will find this scene around the 54:00 mark in the film. Each piece was rendered in graphite and colored pencil on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper. The images of Bashful measures 4.5" tall. Slight toning due to the age of the work. Very Good condition.
