DescriptionSleeping Beauty Published Original Book Art (Walt Disney, 1959).
When Sleeping Beauty was released on 1/29/59, a great deal of Consumer Products support was behind this film. Whitman /Western Publishing had several children's books and children's activity books released along with the film. One of the books had artwork that was done by Eyvind Earle! This is an outstanding piece of Disney children's book art done for a Disney Sleeping Beauty Stamp Book. It is the quintessential image of Prince Phillip with his Shield of Virtue and Sword of Truth doing battle with Maleficent as a dragon. Flames and thorns trees are abound as they face off on the cliff edge. Dramatic gouache on board painting of 9" x 9" on illustration board of 12" x 15.5". The painting is attributed to the hand of Disney Legend inductee, Mr. Walt Peregoy (1925 - 2015). Back of the painting has written on it, "Walt Peregoy will pick up." It should be noted, Walt Peregoy, was one of the background artists on this film. Minor handling, edge wear, and tape on boarder, otherwise artwork is in Very Good condition.
