Sleeping Beauty Castle Concept Storyboard by Kay Nielsen (Walt Disney, 1959). An original pastel on black storyboard panel of knights, sleeping in the castle. Detailed work on the architecture of the castle. The paper is 9" x 8", and the bottom border reads "2082 Sc9 23.o K.N." The initials stand for Kay Nielsen. A typed note on the back reads "About the time we started work on Sleeping Beauty, Marc Davis was on vacation in Europe and went to see him (Nielsen). He found him destitute and in need of work. He brought him to Disney where he worked for several months doing styling sketches for Sleeping Beauty." This is one of those styling sketches that was given to Joe Hale by Mr. Nielsen. The memo is hand-signed by Hale. It is rare to see pastel work of Nielsen from this film. Clear acetate has been placed over the artwork. This is a Kay Nielsen original, folks! In Fine condition. From the Joe Hale Archives.
