Description

Silly Symphony - Water Babies Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1935).
This Silly Symphony short, Water Babies, was directed by Wilfred Jackson and released on 5/11/35. The cartoon begins with several water lilies opening to reveal water babies sleeping in each one. The babies immediately awaken and leap into the water, except for one reluctant, redheaded baby who is assisted by his water lily. From Water Babies we have an adorable drawing of one of the babies as he bounces in a flower before disturbing a bee that was hiding inside. You will see this image at the 6:05 mark. The piece was drawn using graphite on 12 field 2-peghole animation paper. 2-peghole animation paper is characteristic of Disney animation done in this time period. The image area measures approximately 5" x 8". The piece has slight toning of the paper due to aging; otherwise, the artwork is in Very Good condition.
