    Description

Silly Symphony Apples Background Layout Drawing (Walt Disney, c. 1930s).
Silly Symphony is a series of 75 animated short films produced by Walt Disney Productions from 1929 to 1939. Within the animation industry, the series is most noted for its use by Walt Disney as a platform for experimenting with processes, techniques, characters, and stories in order to further the art of animation. It also provided a venue to try out techniques and technologies, such as Technicolor, special effects animation, and dramatic storytelling in animation that would be crucial to Disney's plans to eventually begin making feature-length animated films. In this lot we have a fantastic background layout drawing created for a Silly Symphony short. The piece is beautifully detailed in graphite on 12 field 2-peghole animation paper. This original one-of-a-kind piece of production art is over 75 years old! Slight toning of the paper due to age; otherwise, the artwork is in Very Good condition.
