Scrooge and the Golden Eggs Uncle Scrooge Book Illustration Cel and Painted Background (Walt Disney/Bantam, 1990). Uncle Scrooge tries a visual example in his quest to get the goose to lay those fabulous golden eggs, in this original hand-painted cel illustration. Scrooge and the Golden Eggs was Volume 5 of the Mickey's Young Reader's Library; in the story, an overheard remark convinces the usually thrifty Scrooge to pay Donald double for a goose intended for Grandma Duck. It's a nifty twist on the old "Jack in the Beanstalk" fable, as Scrooge tries every way to get the goose to lay. In this painted cel illustration, Scrooge with the book and goose measures 8.5" x 6". The greens of the grass and trees, the blue sky, and the fence colors, are painted in watercolor/gouache on heavy art paper, and the entire setup image size of 10.75" x 9.5". Cel and background are taped from the top edge to a backing board measuring 13" x 15". Minor edge wear; overall condition is Fine.
