Description

Retta Scott Bambi Story Sketches (Walt Disney, 1942). These four highly detailed story sketches featuring the dogs attacking Faline are from the hand of the incredibly talented Retta Scott (1916-1990). This is a Sequence that Scott animated in the feature film. Frank Thomas wrote of Retta Scott's Sequences with animals that "She seemed to have a keen understanding of their words and attitudes." These drawings are produced in graphite and charcoal on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper. Three have been previously stapled into black boarder paper frames, and two of them have been trimmed down. There are staples and pinholes, all away from the image areas. The bottom margin of one has been ripped, but again not near the image area. Black paper taped to the backside has caused the tape residue to show through on a couple of them as well. Overall they are in Very Good condition and an amazing look at this woman's stunning talent. From the Retta Scott Archives.
