DescriptionRed Hot Riding Hood Early Animation Rough Drawings Group of 20 (MGM, 1943). "We now give you our brand new sweetheart of swing, that little red-headed ball of fire..." Those are the words that introduce Red Hot in this classic animated short, directed by Tex Avery and released to theaters on 8/8/43. Red Hot was animated by former Disney artist Preston Blair (1908 - 1995). Her sensuous song and dance routine (singing the 1941 hit song "Daddy") is perhaps the most risque scene ever in theatrical cartoons from this era. In this generous lot of original 12 field graphite drawings, we see Red as she comes to life. These are partially-imaged rough drawings, focusing on her facial expression, her arms and hands, and some body movements. While none show the complete image of Red, all are fascinating peeks into the design and animation process of this irresistible cartoon character. Overall condition is Very Good, with minor handling wear.
