Popeye the Sailor Man Animation Drawings (Max Fleischer, 1930s). A trio of extremely rare 1930s-era development artwork for Popeye the Sailor Man cartoon shorts. All three are in graphite on 12 field 3 top peghole animation paper. One is a large 10" publicity drawing of Popeye with his trademark pipe; one is a practice model sheet with nice 3" and 5" images of Popeye as a police officer and Olive Oyl in a car, with practice drawings along the border; and the final drawing is an animator's practice model sheet of many characters from the Popeye stable, including Olive Oyl and Wimpy, in a snow theme. Popeye-related drawings of this quality from this era are very hard to find. Minor handling wear; otherwise, in Fine condition.
