Pluto's White Elephant Pluto and Bobo Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1948). An interesting, but ultimately unsuccessful attempt to bring back the star of 1936's Mickey's Elephant, some cleaned-up animation was actually completed; unfortunately, however, little information remains about its plot. This unproduced film may simply have been an updated re-telling of the original short, in which Mickey receives Bobo the elephant as a gift - and Pluto fears his place will be usurped. Bobo's character design has certainly been brought closer in-line with the studio's other concurrent efforts; Bobo's revised look boasts much more appeal than his comparatively simple, pie-eyed design of a decade earlier. This delightful image tells quite a story though the body language of both characters: Pluto's initial suspicion is contrasted perfectly with Bobo's innocent and naively trusting nature. Bobo looks on adoringly at his new friend while Pluto's nose is stretched to the extreme, as he sniffs this odd-shaped visitor. Beautiful full figure drawings of both characters have been rendered in graphite on 12 field 3-peghole animation paper. Large image area measures roughly 9.5" x 4.5". Slight creasing/handling. In Fine condition.
