Plane Crazy Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1928). The Mickey Mouse short Plane Crazy was first shown as a silent film to a test audience on May 15, 1928, making it technically the first-ever Mickey Mouse cartoon. The short was co-directed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks (who reportedly worked six straight weeks on this film with the help of Hugh Harmon and Rudolph Ising). Sound was added and the film was released to the general public on March 17, 1929 as the fourth Mickey Mouse short after Steamboat Willie. This is a rare 12 field 2-peghole animation drawing of Mickey and Minnie in the plane, from the hand of Ub Iwerks. The plane is done in graphite and is about 1.5". Double matted with an opening of 9" x 6.5". A piece of serious Disney Studio history! Fine condition.Auction Info
