Description
Pinocchio Stromboli Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940). "...and by special permission of the management, that's me, too, is presenting to you something you will absolutely refuse to believe!" Stromboli has been gifted an act that can make or break him and he gives Pinocchio the introduction he deserves - while crediting himself for the hard work - here in a 12 field 5-peghole animation drawing. The villain's animation was overseen by Disney Legend Bill Tytla, who also helped to animate the seven dwarfs, Dumbo, Mrs. Jumbo, Yen Sid, and Chernabog. Tytla gave him an intensity, fiery personality, and stark range of emotion that made him a truly dangerous and unpredictable foe, especially for an innocent little puppet who was still learning how the world worked. Found at about 35:55 in the studio's second animated feature film Pinocchio as Stromboli makes his way through his opening speech in front of the crowd. This is not long before the "I've Got No Strings" musical number and Pinocchio's successful performance. The drawing is rendered in graphite with color pencil and includes a studio production stamp marking it for production 2003, sequence 4.2, and scene 3. Stromboli measures roughly 6.75'' x 6.5'' and is numbered 57 in the lower right corner.
