Pinocchio Storyboard Original Art (Walt Disney, 1940). "What's he think I look like? A jackass?" says Lampwick to Pinocchio. Here is a terrific pair of original storyboard panels from Pinocchio showing Lampwick gaining Pinocchio's trust and admiration. Storyboarding in the form widely known today was developed at the Walt Disney studio during the early 1930s. According to John Canemaker, in Paper Dreams: The Art and Artists of Disney Storyboards, the first storyboards at Disney evolved from comic book-like "story sketches" created in the 1920s to illustrate concepts for animated cartoon short subjects such as Plane Crazy and Steamboat Willie, and within a few years the idea spread to other studios. These storyboards were beautifully detailed with graphite and gouache. The panels are enclosed in one frame of 21" x 11" under glass with two matboard apertures of 7.25" x 6". Frame sold as-is. Great images of 3" and 4.25". Stunning artwork! Condition is Very Good.
