Pinocchio Rare Early Pinocchio Animation Drawing Attributed to Disney Legend Fred Moore (Walt Disney, 1940). We are excited to offer a group of three hard-to-find early 12 field animation drawings of our favorite puppet Pinocchio, all created for the 1940 film. Two of the three graphite with color pencil drawings of a more geometric and wooden Pinocchio appear starting at about 4:44 in the 2009 documentary "The Making of Pinocchio: No Strings Attached" as Andreas Deja describes the animated sequence created from model sheets. "They had started out doing some animation based on model sheets that really showed a Pinocchio that looked like a puppet... And Walt just didn't care for it." Production had to be halted on the film until the issue was resolved, resulting in a Pinocchio with a much more human appearance and endearing personality. They are attributed to Disney Legend Fred Moore (1911 - 1952), who was known for his beautiful "Freddie's Girls" and his incredible animation of characters like Lampwick and Timothy Q. Mouse. Each of the full figure drawings are a piece of the film's history and Pinocchio's gradual shift from an overconfident troublemaker to a sweet, innocent child. The drawings range from about 3.75'' x 6.25'' to 4'' x 3.25'' and are marked 6, 682, and 690 in the lower right.
