Pinocchio Jiminy Cricket Production Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940).
"I dub you Pinocchio's conscience, lord high keeper of the knowledge of right and wrong, counselor in moments of high temptation, and guide along the straight and narrow path. Arise, Sir Jiminy Cricket." Jiminy Cricket serves as the official conscience of Pinocchio, having been tasked by the Blue Fairy to keep the puppet in line, in hopes that, someday, Pinocchio will become a real boy. In this lot we have a terrific drawing of Jiminy Cricket from a scene on Pleasure Island. The image of Mr. Cricket stands 3" tall, rendered in graphite and red pencil on 12 field, 5-peghole animation paper. The piece has a studio stamp indicating; Prod. 2003 Seq. 8.3 Scene 62. Disney Legend Inductee and one of "Walt's Nine Old Men", Ward Kimball (1914 - 2002) was the creator of Jiminy Cricket and supervising animator of this scene. The piece has a fold crease down the left side well away from the image. Mild handling and edge wear. Otherwise, Very Good condition.
