Description

Pinocchio Jiminy Cricket Pastel Illustration Original Art by Mel Shaw (Walt Disney, c. 1960-70s). "Give a little whistle. Give a little whistle. And always let your conscience be your guide." Pinocchio's conscience, the always wise Jiminy Cricket, looks bigger than ever in this gorgeous pastel illustration by the hand of the prominent Disney artist Mel Shaw (1914 - 2012). Before starting his journey in Disney, Shaw began to work as a title card creator for Leon Schlesinger and then Orson Welles in the early '30s before being personally hired by Walt Disney in 1942 to work on the classic movie Bambi. This colossal original illustration has Jiminy measuring an astonishing figure size of approximately 12" x 25", created in pastel on heavy illustration paper and signed by Shaw near Jiminy's left foot. The paper shows tack holes in the four corners, light toning, and minor handling wear. In Very Good condition.
