Description

Pinocchio Jiminy Cricket Layout Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940). "A cricket can't be too careful, you know." Peek behind the curtain at the making of Jiminy Cricket's introduction scene with this spectacular charcoal layout drawing. Rendered on 16 field 5-peghole animation paper, this enormous, detailed drawing captures Jiminy starting at about the 3:45 mark of the film as he approaches Geppetto's wood basket. This layout would have been used to get a general sense of the character's movement throughout this key introduction scene before the artists began their more detailed layouts or storyboard drawings. There were a few changes made to the scene in the final version with Jiminy peeking out from behind a shovel rather than the back of the basket. This incredible piece of art measures an impressive 15'' x 11'', nearly the entire page! Very Good condition for this piece of Disney history with minor edge and handling wear, light age-related toning, and faint smudging.
