Pinocchio Geppetto and Pinocchio Stamp Illustration (Walt Disney, 1940). After the success of licensing product for Mickey Mouse and Snow White, Kay Kamen's group had an all-out global effort with Pinocchio. This is rare studio artwork done for a Belgian chocolate company that included a Pinocchio stamp in each package of their chocolates and cookies. A sticker book to hold these collectible stickers was called "De Beaukelaer Album." It had places for 125 stickers. This is the original ink and gouache painting for one of those stickers. It displays Geppetto walking Pinocchio as a puppet, from an early scene in the film. The artboard is 5" x 3.5", with image sizes of 2.5" and 3.5". The detail on these paintings is incredible! Rare Disney Studio Pinocchio artwork of high quality and standard. Minor handling wear. Very Good condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
