Description

Pinocchio Coachman Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940). "There is no risk! They never come back as boys!" In a shady tavern, in the middle of the night, con-men Honest John and Gideon receive a business proposition from one of the many dastardly enemies the titular Pinocchio must face throughout the film. The character of the Coachman asks the fox and cat duo if they'd like to make some "real" money...procuring "stupid little boys" specifically, the "disobedient ones," for forced labor. Here is an excellent original animation drawing of the Coachman, created for the 52:35 mark of Pinocchio. The piece features a large image of the scheming Coachman measuring about 8" x 6"! The drawing is created in graphite with green and red colored pencil on 12 field, 5-peghole animation paper. It is numbered in its lower right corner with 9, as well as having a stamp with production, sequence, and scene numbers. The drawing is initialed EG, which may refer to Eric Gurney, an assistant animator for the film. The piece is in Good condition, with some handling and edge wear, including age-related toning, some smudging, and some creasing.
